Optimize Your Trade Show Booth: How LED and Digital Signage Make Your Booth Stand Out

Trade shows are expensive: booth, logistics, team. So why do so many companies still show up with roll-ups and paper flyers? This guide shows you how an LED wall at your trade show changes that.

At Kampro, you rent a 4 × 2 m LED wall (P2.6 indoor) for your trade show from €2,208 per day excl. VAT with self-pickup in Munich by arrangement, or from €3,608 per day with delivery, setup and dismantling, plus travel (€0.75 per km from the warehouse, there and back). That is a manageable item in your trade show budget, and it helps decide whether visitors stop at your booth. A trade show does not sell itself: you are one of hundreds or thousands of exhibitors, and visitors go where something is happening. A booth without visual appeal is an expensive office at a trade show.

This guide shows you which LED solutions make sense for trade shows, what they cost, when buying pays off instead of renting, and how big brands upgrade their booths visually. You will find prices and availability for your next trade show on Rent an LED wall; LED walls for corporate events and other events are covered on the page LED walls for events.

1. Why your booth decides the ROI of a trade show

Trade shows remain one of the most effective B2B sales tools in Germany. According to AUMA Trends 2024/25, 99.5% of German exhibitors plan to maintain or increase their trade show participation. The average exhibitor spends several tens of thousands of euros on a trade show (booth, staff, logistics, accommodation). That makes it all the harder to understand why so many save on the one visual dimension: booth construction and display technology.

The 3-second rule at trade shows

As a rule of thumb, a trade show visitor walks past a booth in about 3 seconds. In those seconds, they decide: interesting or move on? A static roll-up banner gives them no reason to stop. A moving, bright LED display draws attention, especially when it plays relevant content. That is not opinion, that is physiology.

AUMA figures on the ROI of trade show participation

According to AUMA Trends 2024/25, companies with digital, interactive booth elements see higher lead quality on average than those with purely physical exhibits. The AUMA yearbook also documents that exhibitors have shifted their budget priorities: away from floor space, toward technology and experience.

The digital booth as a brand statement

What does your booth say about your company? If you sell technology, innovation or premium quality but equip your booth with printed materials and a 50-inch consumer TV, you send a contradictory signal. Your booth is your physical brand promise at the trade show.

2. LED solutions for your trade show booth

Depending on booth size, budget and how often you exhibit, four LED solutions are available, from flexible rental to your own system.

Solution A: Rental LED
Modular trade show video wall, designed for fast setup and dismantling. Pixel pitch P2.6 to P3.9, 800 to 2,000 cd/m². Curved, angled and L-shaped setups are possible.
At Kampro: 4 × 2 m from €2,208 per day excl. VAT
Typical: 3 × 2 m to 6 × 3 m video walls
Solution B: LED info stele
Freestanding LED displays on a stand, 55 to 75 inches. No wall mounting needed, easy to reposition. Ideal as an eye-catcher on the aisle or as a product information column.
Price depends on the provider
Ideal for: aisle position, product info
Solution C: Transparent LED
Transparent LED films or panels applied to glass walls. They show content without blocking the view into the booth. Especially effective for premium brand presentations.

3. Rent vs. buy: what pays off when

The choice between renting and buying depends on three factors: how often you exhibit, booth size and logistics capacity.

Decision guide

Renting is what we recommend if you rarely exhibit, every show has a different booth size, or you always want the latest technology.

Buying is what we recommend if you exhibit regularly, several times a year, have similar booth sizes and are ready to organize transport and storage.

4. Costs: what an LED trade show booth really costs

What renting a 4 × 2 m LED wall (8 m², P2.6 indoor) from Kampro costs, all prices excl. VAT per rental day, rental to businesses only:

plus travel; the configurator calculates the price

For comparison: According to AUMA, trade fair fees alone are around €180 per m² of booth space , plus staff, travel, booth construction and marketing. The LED wall is therefore a manageable part of the overall budget, but a factor with a big influence on how many visitors come to your booth.

5. Content strategy for your trade show booth

At trade shows, the first second counts. The content on your LED display has to be understood instantly: without sound, without explanation, readable from 10 meters away.

What works on trade show displays

Short product demos (10 to 20 seconds)
Show how your product works in a short video without explanatory text. That sparks interest in a personal conversation.
Clear claim animation
Your core value proposition, animated, in large type. A strong claim brings the right visitors to your booth.
Customer testimonials (as on-screen text)
One sentence with the customer's logo is enough. No sound needed.
Live data
If your product generates data, show it live. That attracts tech-savvy visitors like a magnet.

What does not work

Too much text on the display: hardly anyone at a trade show reads more than a few words per screen element. Audio without headphones. Static images on a loop without animation, which looks like a forgotten display.

6. Planning and logistics: what many people forget

Book early
Around major trade shows (IFA, bauma, MEDICA, Hannover Messe), rental LED is in high demand. At Kampro, 48 hours of lead time are enough for self-pickup; for delivery with setup, we recommend 5 working days. It is best to ask as soon as your booth space is confirmed.
Venue restrictions
Many trade show organizers have rules on display brightness, height and mounting. Check the organizer's technical guidelines before you place an order.
Plan the power supply
LED walls often need more power than a standard booth connection provides. Plan a 32 A three-phase connection for larger installations.
Test run before the first show day
Your content should be fully loaded and tested on setup day, not on the morning of the first show day.

7. Checklist for trade show managers

Trade show LED display checklist
  • Booth size and budget for display technology defined?
  • Renting vs. buying calculated (number of shows per year)?
  • Rental provider contacted as soon as your booth space is confirmed?
  • Venue's technical guidelines checked?
  • Power requirements agreed with the organizer?
  • Content concept developed (goal, message, formats)?
  • Content production finished at least 2 weeks before the show?
  • Test run scheduled during setup?

8. Case studies: LED at major trade shows

IFA Berlin 2024: Europe's largest consumer electronics show
6,000 m²
Samsung Electronics: CityCube Berlin
Samsung has occupied the CityCube Berlin exclusively since 2014 and consistently puts LED technology at the heart of its trade show presence. At IFA 2024, Samsung presented a fully LED-driven trade show experience: from large-format LED video walls in the entrance areas and interactive display installations to product showcases on “The Wall” MicroLED panels. Samsung's IFA booths are consistently among the most photographed and most visited booths at IFA.
Eurovision Song Contest 2024: Malmö, Sweden
160 million
ROE Visual: official event supplier
ROE Visual was the official event supplier of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, Europe's most-watched entertainment show with more than 160 million TV viewers. Together with Creative Technology, the entire stage was built with ROE Visual LED panels. The ROE Visual CBC-5 panels used at Eurovision belong to the same panel series used for high-quality rental LED installations at trade shows. If a technology works under Eurovision conditions, it will also work at your next trade show.

9. Conclusion: LED as standard equipment for your booth

If you want to succeed at trade shows, you have to be seen. LED displays are one of the most effective tools you have to win attention in a loud, visually saturated environment. The technology has matured, the rental infrastructure in Germany is well developed, and costs have dropped significantly in recent years.

The question is no longer whether LED makes sense at trade shows. The question is whether your booth can still stay competitive without it.

Frequently asked questions
